The in-memory data store for caches, counters, queues, leaderboards and messaging, on a Redis server of your own.
A Redis 7 server of your own, with redis-cli, next to every lesson.
learner@linux-server:~$ redis-cli set greeting hello
learner@linux-server:~$ redis-cli incr page:views
learner@linux-server:~$ redis-cli zrange leaderboard 0 2 rev
Every lesson runs on a Redis server of your own. You use each of its data types for what it is good at: strings with expiry for caches and sessions, atomic counters and rate limits, lists as queues, sets, hashes, sorted sets for leaderboards, then persistence, eviction, Pub/Sub and streams.
Store and read keys with redis-cli, and find and delete them safely.
Keys that expire by themselves, atomic counters, a rate limiter and a lock.
Lists as queues and stacks, blocking pops for workers, and sets for unique members.
Objects as hashes, and a live leaderboard with a sorted set.
Snapshots and the append-only file, then a memory limit and an eviction policy.
Fire-and-forget messages, then streams with consumer groups that never lose one.
Linux command-line basics.
