Training path
The database in a file, inside every phone and browser: SQL, CSV import, indexes, backups and WAL mode with the sqlite3 shell.
SQLite 3 and the sqlite3 shell, next to every lesson.
learner@linux-server:~$ sqlite3 shop.db ".tables"
learner@linux-server:~$ sqlite3 shop.db ".import --csv sales.csv sales"
learner@linux-server:~$ sqlite3 shop.db .dump > shop.sql
SQLite needs no server: a database is one file. Every lesson builds on a shop database in your home folder: flexible and STRICT types, queries and CSV import and export, transactions and foreign keys, indexes and query plans, then safe backups and WAL mode, each checked on your machine.
Create a database file and a table, and look around with dot-commands.
Insert and read rows, see type affinity at work, and use STRICT tables.
Import a CSV file, ask questions with GROUP BY and JOIN, and export results.
UPDATE and DELETE in transactions, and foreign keys that SQLite only checks when asked.
Read query plans and make a query on 200,000 rows fast with an index.
Back up a live database, dump it as SQL, and switch to WAL mode.
Linux command-line basics. No SQL experience needed.
